Kylie Jenner Makeup Tutorial

Okay, so I know I'm jumping on the bandwagon seeing as pretty much everyone has done a Kylie Jenner makeup tutorial, but I really wanted to try it out for myself. I've seen so many versions of her makeup and recreations on youtube and because I love her makeup so much I thought it would be worth trying myself. 

I took a few images from google to give me inspiration as I went for the typical Kylie Jenner nude lip and neutral eyes look.

Kylie has a flawless face showing no spots or blemishes, so I though it would be best to use a high coverage foundation, concealer and powder. I used Estee Lauder's double wear foundation with MAC studio fix concealer. 

It is obvious that Kylie contours her face, however of the family she's usually the most toned down when it comes to bronzers and blushers. In fact it appears she doesn't use blusher at all, or if so only a little amount. I decided to stick to just bronzer and I used the brown shade from my Sleek Face Form palette as it was the perfect colour. I contoured my cheekbones, chin, forehead and slightly down my nose. I made sure not to go too heavy as Kylie is subtle with her use of bronzer. From the same palette I used the highlighter to enhance my cheekbones and the bridge of my nose.

Her eyebrows are very different to mine, so this part was a bit more difficult. She has a chocolate to dark brown shade of eyebrows and they're quite thick even at the very end of them. Her brows are quite high too so I added a pale eyeshadow to my brow bone which helps lift the eyebrows. I used Brow Archery from Soap and Glory in Hot Chocolate and made sure to brush through the brows a few times to give off the natural look which Kylie portrays. 

Her eye makeup is actually quite simple. I used the Naked Basics palette as the colours are very neutral and matched up well to the shades Kylie uses. I applied Foxy all over my lid and used Naked 2 in my crease. I blended these together so they weren't two separate block colours. In some photo's Kylie wears liquid liner, but in some she doesn't. Going from the photo's I used for inspiration she has used liner to create a winded line. I concentrated on making the line thicker towards the end and making the flick like a thick triangle. I only used mascara rather than eyelashes because in these photo's her eyelashes aren't particularly long. However, I know she does wear eyelashes a lot of the time - so this look can work with or without. 

Now for the lips! Kylie has very big, overdrawn lips. I used a lip liner from Gosh and drew on the top of my lip line. A trick that helps makes your lips look fuller is to draw over the cupid's bow so that the top of your lip is less of a heart shape and is more horizontal. If that doesn't make sense then look at the photo's of Kylie and notice how her top lip isn't as curved or bow shaped, the bow is a lot less obvious. I applied MAC's Velvet Teddy all over the lips. It has been rumoured that Kylie wears this exact lipstick, but in an interview with Kim, she said Kylie wears the lip liners Whirl or Soar from MAC all over her lips. Velvet Teddy is such a beautiful lipstick with a matte finish. I have found that the colour looks different depending on the shade of your lips. On my lips it looks slightly more beige than Kylie's lip colour so I added Revlon's colour burst matte balm in the shade Elusive in the centre of my lips.

Dark Colours and Purple Checks

One of my favourite colours to wear is black because it's flattering and goes with almost anything. Today, I've decided to do another outfit post like my last one. However this is slightly more grunge with mostly dark colours. I'd wear this on many occasions and I actually wore it to see Mockingjay part 1 and for my friends birthday meal. It's nothing too fancy so could be worn casually as an everyday outfit, but on the other hand the black dress can make it appear classy and even then it could be worn as a dressy or party outfit.

I own way too many check shirts for my liking. I don't know what it is about them but I always seem to buy them even though I'm aware I don't need anymore. This one is from Topman which might seem strange that I buy mens clothing, but I prefer the baggy look when it comes to shirts and women's shirts are often fitted. I love the colours too and surprisingly I think purple is becoming one of my most worn colours.

I didn't accessorise too heavily, regardless of my love for jewellery. I think thats due to the fact that I was seeing a movie so I wanted to be more comfortable and casual. If I were making more effort I'd definitely include some rings, maybe a watch and earrings.

I wore my Dr Martens which are up there with my favourite pairs of shoes. These are the 1460 W Boot which I will leave a link for at the bottom of the page. I know Dr Martens aren't for everyone, you either love them or hate them. If you are considering buying some I'd say go for it, they're extremely good quality and are worth the cost. They do take a while to break in, I don't know if that's just something I've found personally or not, but once broken in they mould to the shape of your foot and are as comfy as ever.

I know I'm not the most adventurous with hair styles as it seems I always have it curled on my blog, but I am thinking of doing a post on 5 of my daily hairstyles, so look out for that!

As for my makeup, I went with a subtle black, smokey eye and a dark burgundy lip which is my favourite colour to wear in autumn and winter.

Here are the photo's, I look slightly moody on the last one but trust me I'm not miserable. I also couldn't help but include a traditional bathroom mirror selfie.

Leopard Print and Khaki Green

I've been loving fur coats this season, especially with the cold weather. I think they are a must have and can be thrown on over any outfit to keep you warm and cosy. I have particularly been loving this leopard print one because it adds a subtle bit of detail. I also like how it's mostly brown and so is different from your usual yellow leopard print. It's so comfortable and fits me perfectly! 

Khaki green is really popular this season and I find that it is a very flattering colour, especially if you have green eyes like myself. I've recently been loving jumpers with cuffs on, I'm not sure why I just think they look nicer and are more snug around the wrists. 

Usually I'm a silver jewellery kind of person and I've restricted myself from buying gold jewellery as I assumed it wouldn't suit me, but I wanted to try it regardless and with this outfit gold blends better with the colours than silver. The necklace has coin like circles hanging from it, which makes it quite detailed and a statement piece, so I guess it's not really for everyone. 

Leather skirts are a must have in my autumn/winter wardrobe, and this skirt has a particular quilted effect which I thought spiced the outfit up. The A line shape is very flattering as it tucks in tightly at the waist and goes outwards when it gets to your thighs. If you don't really like the look of your thighs then this style skirt is perfect, as it doesn't stick or draw attention to them. If you have long legs, I would definitely consider buying one of these! 

These boots have been featured before on my blog and it's no surprise that I'm mentioning them again because they're so versatile as you can wear them whenever with whatever. Even with a heel on them, in my opinion they're not too difficult to walk in seeing as they're quite chunky.

These are a few photos of the outfit put together. I did use a camera rather than my phone but even still the quality isn't amazing, but at least there is some improvement.

Yellow Tartan OOTD

This is my first OOTD, so heres hoping you all like it!

I decided to go for a versatile look, something that could be worn throughout the day and night for a variety of occasions. It could be worn on just a normal day out shopping, or on a more casual day substituting the boots for a flat shoe. Furthermore, it could be worn on a night out as it can appear as dressy, and could even be worn to a meal. I also attempted to use colours that fitted to the Autumn season.

This yellow cami is actually really comfy with plenty of flow in it which is good as I didn't want it to be tight and I love the combination of the cami and the skirt, because the colours work well together. The most common tartan colours are those of red and greens, so I wanted to mix it up a little and try something different with yellow and navy. The skirt itself has proved popular in my wardrobe as its easy to throw in a bit of pattern and colour into an outfit without being too much. I also love the warm toned yellow in the cami, as it's easier to wear than a more vibrant cool toned yellow. 

I'm loving these hats at the moment as it adds class to an outfit and they're great on a bad hair day (which I was having on this day). I find that these hats are flattering on most people and give the appearance of longer hair, you can also get them really cheap depending on where you shop! 

These shoes are a holy grail of mine! I always turn to them if I'm wearing black tights and they can be worn in the evening and daytime, so they come in handy a lot. I love the chunky boot look, as it adds a bit of grunge to an outfit without being too over the top. Cut out boots are more interesting and make your foot look slimmer, which I suppose is a positive! Unfortunately mine are a bit scuffed and aren't in great condition. 

I decided on red nails as it went with my red lip, which I thought added more vibrant colour to this outfit. I also accessorised with a silver statement necklace and a few silver rings. I thought this was the right amount of jewellery as its easy to over do it.

I also love the scaly, snake skin texture of the leather jacket because it gives an outfit more edge, in particular in this outfit I wanted a few different textures running through it, otherwise it can come off a little plain.

A/W moodboards

Autumn is well under way now and although Autumn to me usually brings connotations of Halloween, bonfires, orange leaves, conkers and starting a new school year it also means a whole new wardrobe! Personally, I find that I need a massive wardrobe update between summer and autumn and winter and spring and I think thats because of the huge difference in the two seasons. Although I do love summer I think I'm definitely ready for Autumn and so I thought it would be a good idea to create a few moodboards of the upcoming trends. I always tend to think hard about clothing pieces before I buy them to make sure they would fit accordingly in my wardrobe and are on top of the trends. These are only my idea's and are based on clothes I'd wear, so some of these may not appeal to you, but I thought it would be nice to give you an insight on what clothes I'm eyeing up this Autumn. 

 Firstly, I created a moodboard based on tops, jumpers and shirts. I really love these colours for autumn and for me I think the bottle greens and burgandys are going to be my most worn. I think the colours look warm but still are colourful enough to stand out and not make an outfit look 'dull.' The white blouse this season is going to be a staple! It can be dressed down aswell as up and fits perfectly for day and night looks. Not only this but I think it subtly adds a lot of class to an outfit! Band t-shirts are always a nice piece to wear on a more casual day with jeans and maybe some old converse. Stripes are always easy to pull off and are a wardrobe must have, as they can be worn all season round! I have to say I do love the yellow checks this season. To me, the yellow represents the colour of autumn leaves and it gives a bit more edge to the usual green or red checked colours. As for the plain colours like grey and black they're definitely colours I stock up with in my wardrobe as I'm always needing the plain colours to pull my outfit together. 

Next up is coats. Its always good to have a nice coat that is not only comfortable but stylish and easy to pull off. The first one I picked out was a boyfriend style grey coat. I always find grey is a good colour as its a great alternative to black without looking too dark and mysterious. The boyfriend style coats are always in fashion and are very comfy. This season leather jackets with fur are becoming popular and I can see why. Leather jackets honestly go with so many different outfits and last such a good time if you get a good quality one. I've had mine for about 3 years and I still don't hesitate to put it on over a basic outfit. The fur also gives it a nice touch in the colder months. As for the lilac quilted mac, its either a love or a hate. The pastel colour may be a bit deceiving seeing as we are in Autumn now, but trust me to sneak a bit of pastel in and lilac especially is such a pretty colour I cant help but not want to wear it for every season! Quilts too are another popular trend, and if the mac isn't for you then maybe invest in a quilted bomber jacket? Finally the wool cardigan. Cosy and cuddly. The comfort from this cardigan is unreal and its just so easy to throw over a t-shirt, shirt, crop top; anything really!

Now for bottom wear. Ripped jeans are trendy, casual and comfy and again can be worn with so many different outfits (I practically live in mine.) Tartan again is a huge love of mine, and tartan trousers were created to give attention to your legs. As for the three skirts, I found that this A line shape is so flattering as it tucks in at the waist but slightly goes out towards the hips (and bum) making them look bigger. The tartan skirt is so pretty and although tartan was big last year I dont see why it cant be as big this year! The white skirt adds elegance to an outfit and white seems to be becoming the new black! Its so easy to pull off as it goes with almost every colour but also makes you seem more tanned, which means holding onto that fading summer tan! One of my favourite colour combinations at the moment is purple and white, or blue and white. The final skirt had an interesting pattern to it that I hadnt seen before so I felt like I had to put it on this moodboard. I thought I would include shorts as it seems we are to have a hot autumn and even as it gets colder, they'll always look nice with tights!

Floppy hats! They make any outfit look classy and I find that they make my hair seem longer, which to me is a great thing! The statement silver necklace can be thrown on with pretty much anything to glam it up, and in Autumn I tend to prefer silver jewellery, I think its because its more of a cooler colour than gold. I know bandana's have been a huge craze this summer, but I really like wearing them, especially with my hair crammed up on a bad hair day, so I just had to include it. Beanies are always going to stay in fashion, and I feel like its only ever acceptable to wear a beanie in the colder months, so I may aswell take advantage of that! I also love the colour, again it reminds me of Autumn leaves. The cat tights are so cute and girly, and I know in autumn it can be hard to look girly whilst wearing wooly jumpers and jeans, so I thought these would look gorgeous with a jumper tucked into a tartan skirt. I love rings, and I either wear about 10 or none at all. I find they just make my nails and hands much more appealing and its a nice way to add colour to a boring outfit. I fell in love with this silver set from Topshop.

SHOES, SHOES, SHOES, SHOES! First up, the chunky Chelsea boots. I always turn to these, they're like my comfort shoe. They can make a boring every day look seem so effortlessly casual! The pointed flat shoes are quite dainty and feminine, which is always nice to stay in touch with in Autumn. These too are very comfortable and so you wont have the problem of aching feet in these. Converse again are an all time love. The amount of times I turn to these is unreal. I definitley wear these more in Autumn and Winter. The only problem is that they take forever to take on and off, I would not recommend wearing these in a rush! The cut out boots are still in for me, I know they've been around for quite a while but I can't see myself getting bored of them! As for these beautiful pair of Dr Martens they literally scream Autumn to me and are so crazily gorgeous it makes me sad that I dont have them. The burgandy colour goes so well with the yellow seams too and I think they would be perfect in Autumn!

Finally for bags and scarves. Black bags are a staple all year round really. I'm especially loving the handbag style bags as they look so classy and remind me of the show 'Made in Chelsea.' I always think its great to have a matching bag and purse, it just makes me happy! (In this case the bag and purse aren't matching, but lets just pretend.) Fringe bags remind me of festivals and although festival season is over, I still think you could get away with wearing this bag up to Spring. Finally for scarves. I love wearing scarves as I tend to wear plain tops a lot of the time and a scarf can make it seem more colourful or interesting without much effort at all. I also love to be cosy and warm around my neck, I find when my neck is cold that my whole body is too, is that just me? Anyway, I chose an aztec orangey, browny colour which I think would strangly go well with the bottle green colour. The other purple scarf is really beautiful and I love deep purple and plum shades in the winter, I find they bring out my hair colour and the purple colour itself is so rich and warm. 

So, I know that may have seemed very long winded and if you didn't read all of it then I hope you managed to get some idea's from this for your Autumn/Winter wardrobe. Unfortunately I don't know where these clothes are from, I just used them for basic idea's as clothes I'd like to get or similar clothes I already have but I'm sure all will be easy to find, or easy to find look a likes at least!
